Like you guys need to learn to groan, pinch the bridge of your nose, and scroll on by when you encounter Embarrassing Horniness online instead of assuming it is indicative of anything beyond Embarrassing Horniness. It’s gauche and often exasperatingly stupid but there is nothing that makes it intrinsically suspect or evidence of some kind of sickness. That is hard, hard right thinking and you should ask yourself why you are so eager to presume danger and deviance when expressions of sexuality are involved.
Often times Embarrassing Horniness has an audience that appreciates it, which is not you, and you’re trying to evaluate it without that context when the horny people are communicating with each other just fine.
… sometimes it is also just one person being horny for inscrutable personal reasons and no one knows what’s up with that but in that case it’s even easier to ignore.
(This doesn’t apply to people being Embarrassingly Horny at someone who has not indicated they want that kind of communication, like if someone gets in your replies and starts detailing their sex fantasies about you. That’s rude and creepy. But if someone’s being horny on their own tumblr it’s time for you to quietly go elsewhere.)
From my experience what these people actually want is confirmation that their experiences were normal and correct and that it’s the world that has gone wrong. That’s why confronting them with the fact that actually how they were treated was literally abuse makes them so upset, they don’t want to acknowledge that they were (and often still are) victims of people and systems outside their control. They were raised with the mindset that to admit something hurt you was a weakness. They were raised to believe that suffering through hardship silently is a sign of good character and strength. They want to be praised for being so strong, not sympathised with for being so hurt, they just don’t know what to do with that massive shift in perspective
